Experiment: Finding Female CEO Contacts in Civil Engineering

This idea comes from a user who expressed interest in being able to connect with female leaders of civil engineering firms (a traditionally male-dominated field).

While Postaga does not have a database that lists contacts by industry and gender (yet), there are a few ways you could use Postaga to find these types of contacts and reach out to them.

1. A “Mention” campaign targeting a website that lists female leaders of engineering firms
2. A “Custom Search” campaign targeting civil engineering firms in different cities, and combing through the results and selecting firms led by women

Here’s how we do it.

Idea 1: An “Mention” campaign targeting a website that lists female CEOs of engineering forms

For this, first I would do a Google search separately for “civil engineering firms with female CEOs”.

A few results I get are articles like these:

These articles link to other civil engineering firm websites with female leaders.

With Postaga, we can grab those links, find contact information for people at those websites, and then reach out to them.

Next, I would go to Postaga, create a Mention Campaign.

Go to the bottom of the page and click the + icon that shows up below the custom search types. Then, enter “CEO” for the contact’s role.

For each of the links we found for articles mentioning female leaders at civil engineering firms, I would enter the URL and click Analyze URL.

This will then find all the “outbound links” from that article to other websites.

Then, if you scroll down you will see a list of the outbound links for that article.

You can click the + icon that is near the person-shaped avatar icon.

Select the contacts you want to use.

Then, once you are happy with all of the contacts, at the bottom of the section you can click Get Contacts

Moving on to the next step to Get Contacts, you can get their email addresses. And then after that, send them a targeted outreach email campaign.

Idea 2: A Custom Search campaign, filtering by CEO, and selecting ones with women leaders.

Do a Custom Search campaign. Click the + icon below it.

Choose to target “CEO” roles.

In the Opportunities section, set a “custom region” to whatever state and city you want to target.

Then search for “civil engineering firm” or some other term related to that business type. Click Find Result.

Next, you can either select specific results, or Select All. Then when you are done, click Analyze Links at the bottom of the results.

Next, click the + sign next to the person icon on the left, which will give you a drop-down of the employees at that company.

It should then tell you the CEO of the company.

If you want to investigate further, you can click the LinkedIn icon to go to their LinkedIn profile page.

If that company has a male CEO, you can click the X button and remove that website from the campaign.

Once you are happy with all of the results, you now have a campaign targeting female CEOs of civil engineering firms in that region.

Moving on to the next step to Get Contacts, you can get their email addresses. And then after that, send them a targeted outreach email campaign.

And that is how you can build a campaign to do cold outreach to connect with female leaders at civil engineering firms. Maybe this can give you some inspiration for campaigns of your own.
